History

The Goshen High School band department is regarded as one of the most well-rounded band programs in the state of Indiana. The band department is comprised of the following ensembles: Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, Concert Band, Crimson Jazz Ensemble, Advanced Crimson Jazz Ensemble, Crimson Marching Band, Concert World Percussion Ensemble, Marching World Percussion, and three different Winter Guards. Many small ensembles are formed to participate in the annual ISSMA Solo and Ensemble contest in the winter every year.

Recognized for Excellence

The marching band has been a 24-time ISSMA state finalist and has performed at Disney World, the Fiesta Bowl, the Blue Bonnet Bowl, and even London, England. They most recently marched in the Indianapolis 500 parade in May.  The Crimson Marching Band was named a Grand National Semi-Finalist in 2012 and Finalist at every Bands of America Regional event they have ever entered.  They were the 2014 BOA Toledo Grand Champions.

The top Jazz Ensemble and Wind Ensemble took top honors at the Heritage Music Festival in New York City in 2003, 2005, 2007, 2009, 2011, 2013, and 2015 and on the even years, have traveled to Atlanta where they have won top honors.

Our Winter Percussion Ensemble has won the State Championship seven times, and we are one of the few groups in the nation to have both a Concert World and Marching World make finals at the annual Winter Guard International competition in Dayton, Ohio.
